1. WELCOME AND PRAYER

Jez started with prayers. The Community Prayer preceded the PCC.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The minutes of the previous meeting dated 2nd November were approved.

Proposer Anthony. Seconder Tom.

3. MATTERS ARISING

5. Tom has to complete the faculties.

7. The new Parish magazine layout is still in progress.

9. A leadership team of Jez, Janine, Tom and Anthony has been formed. Tom has agreed to become

Deputy Churchwarden and Anthony has agreed to become Assistant Churchwarden. The leadership

team will help define a vision for 2024.

10. Anthony has volunteered to be the second Deanery Synod member.

11. Sam Barclay has agreed to stand on the PCC. He will be voted on before the next PCC meeting.

4. UPDATE FROM REV JEZ CARR

Olwyn has stood down as PCC chair and Safeguarding Officer due to personal matters. There will be

a formal thank you to her for all her support. Anne Wall has agreed to act as interim Safeguarding

Officer.

Jez did not provide an update as the PCC was very small and everyone, except Anne, was up to date

with his activities and plans. Janelle Stevenson was announced as our interim administrator,

replacing Jane Spoerry.

5. ELECTION OF MEMBERS

5.1 Anthony Bargioni as Assistant Churchwarden and Tom Allen as Deputy Churchwarden were

proposed by Jez, and seconded by Janine.

5.2 Anthony Bargioni was appointed as a Deanery Synod representative. Peter Vinall proposed

and Geoffrey Brand seconded. The form has been signed and filed in the Vestry office.

5.3 Anne Wall was elected as a PCC member. Tom Allen proposed and Anthony Bargioni

seconded. The form has been signed and filed in the Vestry office.

5.4 Anne Wall was elected as interim Safeguarding Officer, proposed by Jez.

6. LEADERSHIP TEAM

Postponed to the next PCC meeting.

7. BUILDINGS AND CHURCHYARD

7.1 The update is postponed until the next meeting.

7.2 Turney Bros will be coming to look at the roof, fix the loose slates and to look where the

plaster has come off the roof. They will also look to see if there are any holes for the robin to get into

the church.

The grass cutting will continue on a regular basis in 2024. Jez will approach the Scouts for a donation

from the Beer Fest.

ACTION: Jez

8. SAFEGUARDING

No safeguarding issues to report.

DBS’s for Anne and Janelle are in progress. Training on the Diocese’s Safeguarding Hub will be

attended by Anne, Janelle and Janine in February.

9. FINANCE

9.1 Audrey has returned £3000 to our General Deposit account this year, as our finances were in a

good state at the end of the year. There were no questions on the provisional end of year financial

accounts.

9.2 The Oxford Diocesan Board of Finance panel provided their response after the panel meeting on

6 December where Olwyn and Janine presented our concerns about the stipend element of our

parish share contributions. There are some inaccurate statements in the response, and Janine has

requested a meeting with the Finance Director to discuss.

While the panel had some recommendations for the Diocese, they reconfirmed the principle within

the Oxford Diocese that the allocation of the parish share is the responsibility of the Deanery Synod,

and they cannot influence that.

9.3 The 2024 budget was presented to the PCC. This was accepted, and Jez will use it for the Giving

service on 21 January.

10. AOB

10.1 The APCM date is set for 19 May 2024, after the 10am Sunday service. Janine will inform

Heather Rowe so that she can prepare the Electoral Roll.

11. CLOSING PRAYER

Jez closed with prayer.

The next meeting will be on Thursday 21st March 2024 at 7:15pm, after the monthly prayer

meeting.
